Eight weeks before the 2007 Annual New Year's Sale (see archives) Collector's Edge ran a weekly ad in the comical newspaper The Onion. Internally, these were known as the “the hot chick” ads. This ad campaign was designed to build up to the sale date and the final ad (Walking Dead) reflects the theme of the sale.


During this eight-week ad run, Collector's Edge Comics was voted Best Comics Shop in Milwaukee by the Shepherd Express paper, and they created the following ad:


Years later these ads would be fondly remembered by the Edgeguys, even though none of them ever met the “hot chick” or even knew her name. Some still refer to her as simply “Charlene”…
